Marijn Verhoef to share insights on measuring patient reach at workshop for biopharma industry stakeholders

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is hosting a new series of workshops dedicated to standardising access and impact measurement standards among biopharmaceutical organisations. The Access to Medicine Foundation’s Director of Operations and Research, Marijn Verhoef, has been invited to participate in a roundtable discussion at the first meeting in Boston.

Date

DATE

LOCATION

FORMAT

In-person

A three-part series of workshops sponsored by the BMGF, which is set to take place over the next year, will kick off with its first meeting in June. Overall, the project aims to harmonise standards for tracking and measuring the effects of biopharmaceutical industry organisations’ access programmes. The current lack of standardisation, especially in low- and middle-income countries, makes collaboration and transparency difficult among industry partners.

Attendees of the workshops will include representatives from companies, regulators, investors, governments, academia, multilateral organisations and standard setters operating in capital markets.

The Director of Operations & Research at the Access to Medicine Foundation, Marijn Verhoef, has been invited to participate in a roundtable at the first workshop on 14 June in Boston, which will provide a space for attendees to share their perspectives and current approaches to access programme measurement, laying a foundation for the following two workshops, which will be dedicated to outlining the more technical aspects of standardisation.

At the initial meeting, Marijn plans to share insights about how the Foundation measures pharmaceutical companies’ patient reach, as defined in the 2024 Access to Medicine Index methodology. This framework will be used to assess pharmaceutical companies in the next iteration of the Access to Medicine Index, with the assessment including an enhanced focus on how companies measure and report patient reach.
