Director of Government Engagement & Policy

Now in its 80th year, the European Forum Alpbach (EFA) brings together leaders in politics, business, civil society, culture and science to explore solutions for shaping a stronger, more sustainable future for Europe.

On 25 August, Jayasree K. Iyer, CEO of the Access to Medicine Foundation, and Margo Warren, Director of Government Engagement & Policy, will participate in a closed high-level dialogue titled “Strengthening Europe’s Antibiotic Independence” at the EFA. The session will touch on health security measures in Europe, including those related to the supply of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) for antibiotics.

Drawing on the Foundation’s work on access and supply chains from its Antimicrobial Resistance Programme, Jayasree and Margo will discuss how health security should be viewed as a global issue, and how health security legislation and strategies around API supply must take low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) into account, where access to antibiotics remains limited.
