Kibachio Joseph Muiruri Mwangi

Kibachio is a global health expert and advisor. He works at the Kenyan Ministry of Health as Head of the Department of Strategic National Public Health Programs. In this role, he oversees the National AIDS & STI Control programme, the TB and National Malaria Control programmes and the National Vaccines and Immunization programme. Prior to this, he was Head of the Division of Non-Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health.
Kibachio is a medical doctor with vast expertise in NCD programming, NCD prevention and control policy with a keen focus on the integration of NCDs into primary care platforms. He is an ardent policy supporter of integrated care within the multimorbidity and duo burden of disease environment in sub-Saharan Africa.
He has served as the focal person for the Kenya National Public Health Institute and as the convener of the NCD inter-sectorial coordinating committee. He is Co-Chair of the Kenyan Lancet Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries Commission which is part of the global Lancet Commission on reframing NCDIs for the poorest billion.
Kibachio represents the Ministry of Health in the Kenya Coordination Mechanism of the Global Fund to fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He is an adjunct lecturer of public health at Kenyatta and Moi Universities’ schools of public health, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health.
