Joshua Wamboga Magawa
Joshua Wamboga Magawa is a member of the Expert Review Committee for the Access to Medicine Index in 2018. He is the Board Chair Elect; International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (IAPO); a global patient Voice for patient centered health care. He is also Executive Director, Uganda Network of AIDS Service Organizations(UNASO); coordinating advocacy for over 1,400,000 patients living with HIV and diseases in Uganda.
Joshua has more than 16 years of progressive work experience in integrated public health programs management with high-level advocacy & policy engagement, development and lobbying experience – most recently in terms of the Uganda Government’s health sector agenda, international and regional health related policy frameworks, funding, innovation & access to medicine dynamics.
He is also the Governing board member of; Uganda country coordinating mechanism (CCM) for the global fund, Committee member of the WHO stop TB partnership-Working group on new drugs and group member of Health technology assessment international (HTAi); Patient and Citizen Involvement in HTA Interest Sub-Group (PCISG).
Joshua also served as the Executive Director at Uganda Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (UAPO), Team Leader Advocacy & networking and as service center manager at The AIDS Support Organization (TASO); one of the largest AIDS support organizations in Africa caring for over 100,000 active patients living with different diseases.
Joshua attended International Visitors Leadership Program organized by US Department of State and has been a panelist in global health agenda debates to address and influence policy-making processes.
He upholds integrity, innovation and maintains a personal relationship with and a consistent witness for Jesus Christ with Deliverance Church.
He holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Management and Leadership, and Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.
