Antibiotic resistance crisis worsening because of collapse in supply, reports the Guardian

Nicola Davis covers the Foundation’s latest report, “Shortages, stockouts and scarcity: the issues facing the security of antibiotic supply and the role for pharmaceutical companies”.

She highlights that the antibiotic resistance crisis “is threatening to render many diseases untreatable and is being fuelled not just by overuse of the drugs, but by a fragile supply chain that is at risk of collapse”. Jayasree K Iyer, Executive Director of the Access to Medicine Foundation, is quoted as saying that “the new report is a call to arms, and that pharmaceutical companies, governments and medical providers must come together to improve access to antibiotics."
