WEF: Building Crisis-Resistant Healthcare Systems in a Post-COVID World

Jayasree K. Iyer, Executive Director of the Access to Medicine Foundation, will moderate this virtual session as part of the World Economic Forum’s Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience.

Date

25 January 2021

Update: You can watch the recording of the session here.

This invite-only virtual session via Toplink aims to raise awareness of a lack of resilience in healthcare systems around the world exposed by COVID-19 and discuss tangible ways to make them more resilient against future crises.

The session will be divided in two:

The first half will be open to the general public, members and partners. Dr. Iyer will lead the discussion on COVID around the following themes:

  • How can we invest in health systems to ensure they are crisis-resistant?

  • How has the private sector engaged in its response to COVID-19?

  • How can we enable a better use of technology to benefit global populations?

  • What incentives and platforms have helped in engaging public/private players in developing health systems today?

The second half of the panel will include an Interactive Stakeholder Dialogue, open to invited Davos Agenda participants through TopLink. One topic from the first part of the session will be selected for in-depth discussion by the panelists.

Panelists for the event include:

  • Geoff Martha, Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, Medtronic Plc

  • Francis deSouza, President and Chief Executive Officer, Illumina Inc.

  • Marc Harrison, President and Chief Executive Officer, Intermountain Healthcare

  • Helen E. Clark, Prime Minister of New Zealand (1999-2008)
