Fumie Griego is a member of the 2024 Expert Review Committee for the Access to Medicine Index. She was also a member of the Committee in 2022 and 2018. Fumie is Deputy Director General and Chief Operating Officer at the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), where she leads the organisation’s strategic planning process and international engagement on a range of global health topics from pandemic preparedness to universal health coverage.
Fumie is an internationally recognised expert on health policy and economics. Prior to joining the IFPMA, Fumie was Head of Global Oncology Policy and Strategy, Global Government Affairs & Policy at Merck KGaA and Vice President for International Health Policy at Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). Fumie was also a senior economist in the White House’s Office of Management and Budget where she provided policy advice to senior policy officials in both the Bush and Obama Administrations.
Fumie has a PhD in Health Policy from Harvard University and Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Earth Systems (concentration on environmental economics and policy) from Stanford University.
