Niké Buijze joins panel discussion at EADA 2023 to share Foundation’s insights on tackling AMR

Emerging Antimicrobials and Diagnostics in AMR 2023 (EADA 2023) will bring together global private and public organisations involved in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Niké Buijze, Company Engagement Officer at the Access to Medicine Foundation, has been invited to participate in a roundtable discussion at the event.

DATE

LOCATION

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

FORMAT

In-person

EADA 2023 is the 6th AMR Insights International Matchmaking Symposium, which provides an overview of emerging preventives, antimicrobials, new antimicrobial strategies, microbial diagnostics and related (platform) technologies.

In her capacity as Company Engagement Officer at the Foundation, Niké Buijze has been invited to participate in this year’s event as a panellist, taking part in a roundtable discussion titled, ‘Innovative antibiotics in a resistant world’.

Some of the key issues that will be addressed during the panel include:

  • What is currently contributing to drug resistance, and what are the consequences of not addressing the factors that drive it?

  • How can the spread of drug resistance be prevented or curbed? What role can effective diagnostics, sustainable environmental practices and infection prevention have?

  • What best practices are we seeing globally, specifically when it comes to financing and developing new, innovative antibiotics?

As a speaker on the panel, Niké will specifically highlight why access to antimicrobials, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), is critical in the fight against drug resistance. Drawing on the Foundation’s extensive work in AMR, she will also share insights on how companies and their research and development (R&D) partners can already develop access and stewardship plans while a new antimicrobial product is still in development.

Niké will also attend other sessions at the event, where she will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from governments, pharmaceutical companies and other global health stakeholders in attendance.

EADA 2023 is part of the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, which takes place between 18 and 24 November.
