Jayasree K. Iyer to deliver keynote at American College of Rheumatology’s global summit

As CEO of the Access to Medicine Foundation, Jayasree K. Iyer has been invited to give a keynote address at ACR Convergence 2023, the annual meeting of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), to share insights into key access issues.

Date

10 November 2023

Date

10 November

Location

California, USA

Format

Virtual and in-person

Joining the summit virtually, Jayasree will speak at the opening session of the Global Summit, “Drug Development: Need for Radical Changes to Ensure Access to Essential Medicine.”

Jayasree will share insights from the Foundation’s work to stimulate pharmaceutical companies and other essential healthcare companies to expand access to medicine in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including the Access to Medicine Index. These insights are critical, because a lack of access to medicine is a huge challenge worldwide for rheumatology patients, leading to high rates of permanent disability and increased mortality.

The keynote session will be moderated by Evelyn Hsieh from Yale University’s Department of Medicine, who will lead a Q&A after Jayasree’s address.

About ACR Convergence 2023

The event will be held as part of ACR Convergence, taking place 11-15 November 2023.

The annual meeting draws approximately 15,000 health professionals, researchers, educators, trainees, advocates, and patients, over half of whom are from outside the United States – representing more than 110 countries.
