The Access to Medicine Foundation’s Research Coordinator, Emma Cahuzac, will attend the event, contributing to discussions on challenges, innovations, and disparities in pediatric and adolescent diabetes care.

Date

16 October 2024

Location

Lisbon, Portugal

The International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Conference is an annual event that convenes scientists, allied healthcare professionals, partner organisations, industry representatives, and people living with diabetes around the world to share knowledge, latest research, and best practices among the international pediatric diabetes community. This year’s conference is centred on the theme “Inclusion & Innovation in Pediatric Diabetes.”

As a representative of the Foundation, Emma will attend various sessions during the conference, which will cover topics like industry programmes and developments, the unique challenges faced by people living with diabetes, strategies to address persistent disparities in paediatric diabetes care, and the latest therapies and technologies.

About ISPAD 2024

The focus of this year’s conference will be on cutting-edge topics such as novel basic research, translational approaches, precision medicine, and the advent of artificial intelligence in diabetes care. The industry is transitioning from hormone substitution to disease modification through immune modulation, beta cell replacement, and advanced automated insulin delivery systems. However, the conference will highlight the ongoing disparities in access to insulin and technologies, as well as the discrimination and diverse challenges faced by people living with diabetes worldwide.
