As pharmaceutical companies seek to expand their presence in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), investors require better information to understand the long-term growth potential of these markets.
Data on the reach of major pharmaceutical companies’ healthcare products is key to assessing efforts to expand access in LMICs. When companies report this data clearly and transparently, it enables both them and their investors to track progress and ensure these initiatives are effective.
To explore how patient reach data can be contextualized and communicated, and what role access performance may play in future investment analysis, the Access to Medicine Foundation, global private credit asset manager PGIM Credit and investment firm Jennison will host an event on the sidelines of Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) in Person 2026.
Held in an open forum held under the Chatham House Rule, the roundtable discussion entitled "Health Equity Event: Access as Growth – How patient reach data can inform pharma's emerging market opportunity" will convene senior representatives from pharmaceutical companies, institutional investors and representatives from the Access to Medicine Foundation.
This meeting will build on discussions held in 2024 and 2025. While previous roundtables introduced how pharmaceutical companies measure and report the patient reach metrics of their healthcare products, this year's discussion will focus on how this data can be used by investors to assess commercial opportunities and long-term growth potential in emerging and LMIC markets.
The discussion will be structured around two thematic discussion rounds guided by key questions:Â
Round 1 – The Data: What should companies report to make the LMIC growth story investable?Â
Round 2 – The Analysis: How can investors use patient reach data to assess emerging market potential?Â
The event takes place following the release of the methodology for the 2026 Access to Medicine Index, which set clearer expectations for patient reach measurement and reporting for pharmaceutical companies. With the 2026 Index set for publication in November, which will analyse companies on a wide range of metrics including patient reach, participants will discuss how patient reach data can be leveraged for investor decision-making while complementing financial reporting.Â
