Irene Pirrone is Research Coordinator for the Access to Medicine Index Programme. The programme includes the Access to Medicine Index, which evaluates 20 of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies on their performance across governance of access, research and development (R&D) and product delivery. In her role, Irene supports planning and coordination across internal teams and with the Foundation’s external stakeholders. She also leads research on pharmaceutical companies’ access and pricing strategies in upper-middle-, lower-middle- and low-income countries.
Previously, Irene worked as a Researcher across the Foundation’s programmes focused on R&D and access and pricing strategies.
Irene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Milan and a Master’s degree in Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship in Health and Life Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where she specialised in International Public Health.
Before joining the Foundation, Irene worked at a clinical research organisation in a study start-up team, where she was primarily responsible for supporting clinical trial applications across several European countries.
