Before joining the Foundation, Alessandra worked across research, editorial and communications roles, with a particular focus on health, ethics and complex policy questions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCLA, with a minor in Philosophy, and a Master of Science in Medical Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Amsterdam. Her MSc research examined euthanasia and physician-assisted dying in the Netherlands, with a particular focus on psychiatric cases and on the framing and clinical assessment of suffering within a complex regulatory decision-making process. She continues to lecture on Dutch euthanasia, drawing on her own research in the field.
At the University of Amsterdam, she contributed to interdisciplinary research on trauma-informed rehabilitation and violent offending, supporting qualitative analysis and the development of research outputs grounded in sensitive material. Alongside her academic work, she has provided editorial and communications support on research-heavy and policy-related projects through her consultancy, and writes on responsible AI in academic research, with a particular focus on peer review, academic integrity and AI policy.
