Coming up: speaking engagements & events – open invitation

In the coming weeks, come and join Wim Leereveld, CEO, and Jayasree K. Iyer, Head of Research, from the Access to Medicine Foundation, at a series of public events to discuss access to medicine and the role for pharmaceutical companies.

Access to Medicine Seminar, Irish Forum for Global Health
We are delighted to announce that the Centre for Global Health has invited the Access to Medicine Foundation to lead a seminar on how the research-based pharmaceutical industry is addressing access to medicine in low- and middle-income countries. Wim Leereveld, CEO and Founder of the Access to Medicine Foundation, together with Jayasree K. Iyer, Head of Research, will present the Foundation’s latest findings in this area, and explore key global health topics such as maternal and child health and vaccines. They will also introduce the aims of the first Access to Vaccines Index.

PharmaAfrica Market Access Conference
The annual PharmaAfrica Market Access Conference is dedicated to exploring the challenges and opportunities for Africa’s pharmaceutical market-access and patient-access landscapes. Tara Prasad, Research Programme Manager at the Access to Medicine Foundation, will be speaking in event’s the first plenary roundtable, which will address whether public-private healthcare partnerships are an effective tool for improving both market access and access-to-medicine.

2015 World Health Summit
Wim Leereveld will address the 2015 World Health Summit during the event’s plenary session on 13 October, hosted by the Germany Federal Ministries of Health (BMG) and of Education and Research (BMBF). The session will cover the assessment, treatment and prevention of Ebola, with Wim setting out the potential for the pharmaceutical industry to increase access to appropriate interventions.

Jay Iyer will also be speaking during the World Health Summit, in a Workshop Session on newborn mortality. Jay will set out how pharmaceutical companies are strengthening health systems in low- and middle-income countries, and making key health interventions more widely available and accessible for mothers and newborns.

Annual Congress of the Netherlands Society of Tropical Medicine 2015
During its 2015 Annual Congress, the Netherlands Society of Tropical Medicine will be discussing access to quality essential medicines and the debate on achieving universal health coverage. Danny Edwards, Research Programme Manager, will speak in a join session, entitled Access is Key, on the Access to Medicine Index and the MSF Global Access Campaign.
