2014 Access to Medicine Index at the European Parliament – open invitation

On 4 February, the 2014 Access to Medicine Index will be launched at the European Parliament in Brussels by Wim Leereveld, Index CEO and founder, and Jayasree K. Iyer, Index Head of Research. Jay Iyer, will present the latest ranking of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies, giving insight into where these companies are focusing and innovating, particularly when it comes to R&D.

The event will be hosted by MEP Françoise Grossetête, member of the European Parliament Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, and supported by the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).

Roundtable discussion

The event will feature a roundtable discussion about the pharmaceutical industry’s changing approach to access to medicine, and about the fit between pharmaceutical pipelines and the unmet medical needs of people living in emerging and developing economies. At the roundtable will be Jay Iyer, Dr. David Cavan, Director of Policy and Programmes at the International Diabetes Foundation; Dr Canice Nolan from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Consumers (DG SANCO); and Jon Pender on behalf of EFPIA. The discussion will be open for questions from the audience, including politicians, policy experts, NGOs and other stakeholders.

If you would like to attend, please contact Raquel Resendes, Manager, Government Affairs, EFPIA (raquel.resendes@efpia.eu) before Thursday 29 January, 2015.
