Stewardship / Resistance Scan for Mar 29, 2021

Chris Dall for CIDRAP writes about the Access to Medicine Foundation's analysis on the access gap for paediatric medicines.

Included in a summary of three recent reports related to stewardship and resistance, author Chris Dall writes about the Access to Medicine Foundation's latest paediatric finding. Dall notes that according to the finding, less than 7% of the projects analysed by the 2021 Access to Medicine Index are intended for children under 12.

The piece emphasises the urgent need for shorter waiting times for new medicines for children and highlights the untapped opportunities for pharmaceutical companies to improve access to paediatric medicines, especially for those in low- and middle-income countries.
