Margo Warren, Director of Government Engagement & Policy at the Access to Medicine Foundation, explains how the pharmaceutical industry's increased investment in women’s health would not only address critical healthcare gaps, but also represent meaningful opportunities for companies to pursue market growth.

As Margo points out, research and development (R&D) for women’s health priorities remain underfunded. Pregnant and lactating women are particularly poorly represented in clinical trials, limiting the ability of companies to understand how their products affect women. This practice delays the development of new solutions that address women's health needs and restricts the benefits of interventions during vulnerable periods, she adds.

She concludes that investing more in women's health can improve health outcomes for women while unlocking business opportunities.
