The article focuses on the lack of R&D by pharmaceutical companies into emerging infectious diseases, which disproportionately affect people living in low- and middle-income countries.

Marijn is quoted: "Dat is in hoge-inkomenslanden zoals in het Westen veel minder het geval. En juist daar kunnen farmaceuten hun geld verdienen. Dus die zetten voornamelijk in op de ontwikkeling van medicijnen tegen daar veel voorkomende ziekten als kanker en hart- en vaatziekten."
