Medical oxygen: Air Liquide and Linde agree unprecedented oxygen cooperation

Rob Cockerill for gasworld writes about the landmark agreement to improve access to medical oxygen in LMICs.

In two articles, the author writes about the groundbreaking agreement announced between Air Liquide and Linde, two of the world's largest medical oxygen producers, with Unitaid and Wellcome Trust. The agreement, also chartered by Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), aims to close oxygen access gaps in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The agreement is attributed to months of discussion with the Covid-19 Oxygen Emergency Taskforce, part of the ACT Accelerator, and follows the third Access to Medical Oxygen Roundtable, co-hosted by the Access to Medicine Foundation and Every Breath Counts Coalition on 9 June, 2021.

Taskforce members include the Access to Medicine Foundation, the WHO, Unicef, The Global Fund, the World Bank, UNOPS, the Every Breath Counts coalition, CHAI, PATH, Save the Children, and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
