Hospitals are running out of oxygen to treat covid-19 patients
The Economist's 'Daily chart' covers the dwindling supply of medical oxygen available in low- and middle-income countries.
This edition of The Economist's Graphic Detail features a report on the dire medical oxygen shortage in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), which has worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Referencing estimates from PATH, the report points to a need for 1.1m cylinders (7.9 cubic metres) of oxygen per day in LMICs alone.
