GSK, Novartis, J&J and Pfizer lead pharma at making their meds accessible: report

Beth Snyder Bulik outlines the ranking of the top five pharmaceutical companies in the 2021 Access to Medicine Index and highlights the reasons for Pfizer's significant progress since 2016.

In her article for Fierce Pharma, Beth shares the decision of eight pharmaceutical companies to mainstream access planning in their pipelines and points out there is still room for improvement.

Jayasree Iyer is quoted: While access may not yet be incorporated into every single project, the group of eight has “taken that step to say ‘We’re no longer going to stand and say our products are not available to low-income markets, but we’re going to make a concerted effort—check. And let’s see how we’re going to do this,’” Iyer said.

The article also describes the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the industry.
