Better access to medical oxygen is urgently needed, says new report
Marking the publication of the Foundation's report on access to medical oxygen in low- and middle-income countries, Anthony Wright's article for gasworld urges gas companies to build on COVID-19 initiatives and expand access to their lifesaving product.

The Foundation's CEO, Jay Iyer, is quoted in the article: “Medical gases are a small part of these companies’ business, yet society needs them to ensure this vital lifeline is available both during emergencies and to meet the daily medical oxygen needs of all health systems."
The issue around access predates and overshadows the impact of COVID-19; the article includes the 2021 estimate that 73 million people with low blood oxygen (hypoxemia) attended healthcare facilities in LMICs, and of those, only 22 million were suffering from COVID-19.
