In preparation for the 2024 High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) taking place at the UN General Assembly, the Group of Friends on Tackling AMR is co-hosting a series of interactive discussions to foster common understanding and help UN Member States prepare for negotiations on a political declaration for AMR.
The Access to Medicine Foundation’s Government Engagement and Policy Manager, Sadhavi Chauhan, will be attending and speaking at the “Access to Medicines” thematic discussion taking place in New York on 21 March 2024. This discussion will focus on how drug resistance is impacted by access to affordable, effective medicines, and how increasing access to antibiotics, diagnostics, and vaccines is a key measure for managing the emergence and spread of AMR.
Representing the Foundation, Sadhavi will be speaking as part of the "Scene Setting Remarks on AMR" session to share the insights from the Foundation’s work on AMR. She will focus on findings across key priority areas, including research and development (R&D), appropriate access and stewardship, as well as responsible manufacturing. Using the Foundation’s extensive work on AMR, Sadhavi will share vital insights during the discussion, which aims to identify long-term, sustainable solutions to tackling persistent challenges on the AMR agenda.
Alongside fellow discussants, Sadhavi will also help identify ways in which the 2024 AMR High-Level Meeting can align global frameworks and national priorities to ensure equitable access to medicines as a central pillar of AMR response efforts.
