The President of the UN General Assembly has organised an interactive multi-stakeholder hearing to aid in ongoing preparations for the 2024 UN General Assembly's High-Level Meeting on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In-person

In preparation for the 2024 UN General Assembly meeting in September, the President of the General Assembly will hold an interactive multi-stakeholder hearing to foster discussions on key priorities for the upcoming meeting and its political declaration. Other areas of focus will encompass challenges and potential solutions for addressing AMR at the national, regional, and global levels.

Sadhavi Chauhan, Government Engagement and Policy Manager at the Access to Medicine Foundation, will join the panel discussion on "Addressing antimicrobial access, research and development (R&D), and innovation" at the hearing. In this session, panellists will discuss ensuring equitable access to essential antimicrobials; addressing market failures and expediting R&D for new antimicrobials, diagnostics, vaccines, and other tools; and strategies for preventing misuse or overuse of antimicrobials in humans, animals, and plants.

Sadhavi will provide insights from the Access to Medicine Foundation's extensive work in its AMR programme, including findings across key priority areas such as R&D, appropriate access and stewardship, as well as responsible manufacturing.
