Sadhavi Chauhan joins international workshop focusing on LMIC priorities in addressing AMR

Sadhavi Chauhan, Government Engagement and Policy Manager at the Access to Medicine Foundation, will attend a workshop hosted by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), during which industry experts will share insights on priorities for future action against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs).

Date

08 April 2024

Location

Nimli, Rajasthan, India

DATE

8 April 2024

LOCATION

Nimli, Rajasthan, India

FORMAT

In-person

Ahead of the 2024 High-Level Meeting on AMR at the UN General Assembly, the CSE workshop aims to ensure that LMIC priorities are being communicated and understood before UN Member States deliberate on what political action to take against AMR. Recognising that the factors driving AMR and potential solutions may differ for LMICs, the workshop will highlight tailored strategies for addressing the issue in these countries, especially as LMICs are expected to be heavily impacted by AMR.

The Access to Medicine Foundation’s Government Engagement and Policy Manager, Sadhavi Chauhan, has been invited to speak at the workshop on the importance of ensuring access to vital medications in countries amid the implementation of regulations on antibiotic manufacturing discharges. She will focus on how such regulations, aimed at combating AMR, may impact availability and access to medicines in different countries where they are most needed.

Sadhavi will draw on insights from the 2021 Antimicrobial Resistance Benchmark in addition to two reports from the Foundation’s AMR programme: one emphasises responsible manufacturing practices to combat AMR, while the other highlights how lack of access to medicine contributes to AMR and explores what pharmaceutical companies can do about this.
