Date

22 November 2019

The panel disussion, taking place at 09:50 and titled Closing the Gap: Addressing Determinants of Health through Innovation, will discuss how the EU and member states can tackle determinants of health outside of health policy remits, such as air quality, working conditions, food additives, etc. Panelists will also explore how digital innovation and data can help identify and address the most pressing challenges.

Panelists:

  • Peter Goldblatt, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, University College London

  • Jayasree K. Iyer, Executive Director, Access to Medicine Foundation

  • Juan Menéndez-Valdes, Executive Director, Eurofound

  • Joanne Kenen, Executive Health Care Editor, POLITICO (Moderator)

The two-day summit will examine the fundamental question of what can be done to address the systemic causes of health inequities. In particular, it will explore how big data and digitalisation can contribute to identifying and tackling inequalities and determinants of health.
