Marijn Verhoef joins panel discussion at Pharma Sustainability Integrates 2025

Marijn Verhoef, Director of Operations and Interim Director of Government Engagement & Policy at the Access to Medicine Foundation, will join a panel discussion at Pharma Sustainability Integrates 2025. The event will explore how the pharmaceutical sector can reduce its environmental impact while improving sustainability efforts across the healthcare ecosystem.

The ‘Pharma Sustainability Integrates’ event brings together experts, leaders, academics, and policymakers from both the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries to address the challenges and opportunities of reducing the environmental impact of the pharmaceutical sector. Now in its third year, the event delves into policy, strategy, and innovation, focusing on how the industry can reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to the broader healthcare ecosystem's sustainability efforts.   

Representing the Access to Medicine Foundation, Marijn Verhoef, Director of Operations and Interim Director of Government Engagement & Policy, will join the panel discussion titled “Sustainability Metrics: Measuring What Matters.” The discussion will focus on how science-based sustainability metrics can drive meaningful, measurable change. Marijn will highlight the role of access to medicine in shaping a more sustainable pharmaceutical sector, sharing insights from the 2024 Access to Medicine Index and key findings from the Patient Reach Report. He will be joined on the panel by: 

  • Nazneen Rahman CBE, CEO & NED, YewMaker & AstraZeneca   

  • Jason LaRoche, Director, Environmental Sustainability in Clinical Research, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine   

  • Niklaus Künzle, Senior Director, Head of Global Process Technology & Innovation, Small Molecules, Lonza   

The discussion will highlight practical tools, metrics, and methodologies that are making a difference, examining sustainability from both an environmental and an access perspective to drive greater impact for patients and healthcare systems.
