Jayasree K. Iyer to speak at Reuters Pharma 2025 Convention

Jayasree K. Iyer, CEO of the Access to Medicine Foundation, has been invited to speak at the Reuters Pharma 2025 Convention. As a panelist, she will present key insights from the 2024 Access to Medicine Index and lead discussions on how to ensure equitable global access to essential medicines.

Date

09 April 2025

Location

Barcelona, Spain

Reuters Pharma, held annually in Barcelona, has been a cornerstone event for the pharmaceutical industry for over two decades. Now in its 24th year, the 2025 edition brings together industry leaders, experts, and professionals to explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the sector.

Jayasree K. Iyer, CEO of the Access to Medicine Foundation, will moderate a keynote panel discussion during the event, featuring leaders from the companies analysed in the 2024 Access to Medicine Index. The session will explore how pharmaceutical companies are driving access to medicine through strategic innovations, sustainable models, and collaboration with key stakeholders to improve healthcare in underserved communities.

The panel will bring together:

  • Nicola Cameron, Global Health Strategy Director, GSK plc

  • Lutz Hegemann, President, Global Health & Sustainability, Novartis AG

  • Nazneen Rahman, Non-Executive Director, AstraZeneca plc

As pharmaceutical companies continue to play a crucial role in expanding access to healthcare, this discussion will highlight initiatives that have successfully improved medicine availability in low-resource settings. Drawing on her expertise and the Foundation's work on expanding access to essential healthcare products in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including findings from the 2024 Access to Medicine Index, Jayasree will steer the discussion, focusing on the following themes:

  • Explore breakthrough projects that have successfully improved access to essential medicines in low-resource settings, offering practical insights for scaling impact.

  • Reinforce strategic innovations in access models and how they align with long-term business sustainability and health system needs in underserved communities.

  • Establish collaborative frameworks that bring together pharmaceutical companies, governments, NGOs, and global health organisations to create collective solutions for accelerating healthcare delivery.
