Jayasree K. Iyer to speak at gasworld virtual event "Next Level Healthcare: A World Beyond COVID"

Access to Medicine Foundation CEO Jayasree K. Iyer is set to speak at gasworld's inaugural virtual conference on medical gases, "Next Level Healthcare – A World Beyond COVID" on 7 April 2022. She will join a panel discussion on the topic, "Next Level Healthcare: Taking Access to the Next Level."

Date

07 April 2022

Date
Thursday, 7 April 2022
Location
Virtual

Panellists will discuss recent challenges within the medical gases industry and explore opportunities to bring essential healthcare products, including medical oxygen, to more people across the world.

When patients struggle to breath, they need a continuous supply of medical oxygen. And yet, as became painfully clear through the COVID-19 pandemic, almost half of hospitals in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have an inconsistent supply of medical oxygen or lack it entirely. Currently, demand for medical oxygen from LMICs is 14,200,000 cubic meters of oxygen per day.

This inaugural event organised by gasworld event will hone in on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic to explore strategies for improving access to medical oxygen and building stronger, more resilient healthcare systems. It coincides with World Health Day and brings together leaders from industry and public health.

Jayasree will join the panel "Next Level Healthcare" alongside:

  • Marco Proietti, Home Medicine S.r.l

  • Massimiliano Sabbatini, AMBRA Sistemi

Other confirmed speakers at the event include representatives from WHO, USAID, UNITAID, Nippon Gases Europe and the Every Breath Counts Coalition.

The event is open to the public, more information can be found here.

The Access to Medicine Foundation is working to move the medical gas industry with global health organisations, investors and policy makers to permanently close the gaps in access to this essential medical treatment. For example. in partnership with the Every Breath Counts Coalition, we are bringing medical oxygen companies to the table for the first time with the key stakeholders working on the access issue. By coordinating with a group of more than 150 investors, we are rallying the strongest support for ACT-A from the global financial community to date.
