The Foundation is in the USA in April. Jayasree K. Iyer, Executive Director of the Access to Medicine Foundation, will speak at the PQMD Global Health Policy Forum in Washington, DC, on April 10. The event aims to bring together global health leaders to discuss implications of promoting greater access to healthcare and sustainable development investments through donations of medical products and devices.

Jayasree will join a panel discussion during the Executive Forum themed “The role of donations: Creating dependency or sustainability.” She will discuss the impact of donations on access to medicine, highlight some trends that the Access to Medicine Indices (2012, 2014 and 2016) reveal about company activities, and pinpoint where companies can be further incentivised in making their donation programmes more sustainable. Starting in 2018, the Access to Medicine Index will measure companies’ long-term commitments to donation programmes, and whether the company ensures a transition plan is in place to ensure donations can continue sustainably once the company is no longer involved.
