Inspire2Live Annual Congress 2023: Jayasree K.Iyer to discuss access to cancer care in LMICs

Access to Medicine Foundation CEO Jayasree K.Iyer has been invited to speak on a panel at the Inspire2Live Annual Congress 2023. She will be sharing insights from the Foundation's work, particularly in addressing access to cancer care for patients living in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Date

29 November 2023

DATE

29 - 30 November 2023

LOCATION

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

FORMAT

In-person

Inspire2Live is an independent, international patient advocate organisation working to tackle cancer, including some of the critical issues faced by patients living in LMICs, such as late-stage diagnoses and a lack of access to medicine.

As part of this year’s Inspire2Live Annual Congress, Jayasree has been invited to speak on a panel to share the Foundation’s work on expanding access to medicine, with a particular focus on recent findings from the 2022 Access to Medicine Index regarding access to cancer treatment.

Drawing on her expertise, Jayasree will provide insights on the urgency of swift diagnoses and making effective treatment available and affordable to patients in LMICs. This is critical given current estimations that by 2023 approximately three quarters of all deaths caused by cancer will occur in these countries. If healthcare systems in LMICs are adequately equipped, many patients' lives can be saved, especially with many cancers now being treatable.

As part of this year’s programme, a group of Congress participants – including representatives from other NGOs and health practitioners – will join Jayasree to visit the Foundation to learn more about our work.
