In-person (invite only)

This multistakeholder event, titled ‘Solving for global therapeutics access: The evolving role of generics and biosimilars manufacturers and partners in equitable supply’, is jointly organised by the World Economic Forum and the Access to Medicine Foundation, and will serve as an interactive discussion for attendees.
The generic and biosimilar medicine industry has long played a critical role in ensuring equitable supply in LMICs, often working with partners to enable access at scale. In a rapidly changing global health landscape, the nature and extent of this role is evolving, which will be the focal point of this event.
As part of the session, attendees will explore the part manufacturers play in global health; the breadth of strategies being leveraged by companies, partner organisations and governments to enable a steady supply of quality-assured medicines to LMICs; and what meaningful and actionable solutions can address access challenges.
Specifically, attendees will be able to engage on:
How companies and their partners can actively work to ensure medicines reach patients who need them in LMICs, and truly serve vulnerable populations such as women and children.
What policy instruments are in place, or evolving, to enable better capacity, infrastructure and financing in countries to enable broader access.
Participation in this event is by invitation only and will take place alongside the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva.
The Foundation’s work on generic and biosimilar medicines
The Access to Medicine Foundation’s Generic & Biosimilar Medicines Programme recently published an analytical framework to assess these companies’ performance in expanding access to their essential healthcare products. The first of five company profiles will be published in September 2023. To find out more about the Programme, click here.
