Foundation and MPP to host PRI side event on sustainability in healthcare

The Access to Medicine Foundation and Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) are co-hosting a side event at PRI Tokyo titled ‘The S of ESG in Healthcare: Enabling Strategic Access to Medicine globally’. This event features a panel discussion focused on the crucial role of access-to-medicine considerations within the healthcare investment sector.

Despite progress in healthcare, a significant portion of the global population, primarily in low- and middle-income countries, still face challenges in accessing essential medicines. This event provides a unique opportunity for healthcare investors, financial stakeholders, and pharmaceutical industry representatives to address these disparities and explore strategies for promoting equitable access to medicines. 

Expert panel discussion 

The event will feature a panel discussion aimed at deepening investor understanding of access-to medicine-issues and highlighting the benefits of integrating access into the investment process from a business perspective.  

The discussion will be moderated by Suzi van Es, Investor Engagement Manager at the Access to Medicine Foundation.  

Panelists include:  

  • Maria Ellen Drew, Director of Research, Responsible Investing, T Rowe Price 

  • Charles Gore, Executive Director, MPP 

  • Tetsuo Kitagawa, Aoyama Gakuin University and Tokyo Metropolitan University 

  • Takuko Sawada, Director and Vice Chairperson of the Board, Shionogi
