Exane BNP Paribas: ESG Conference 2021

On 8 September 2021, Jayasree K. Iyer, Executive Director of the Access to Medicine Foundation, participated in a fireside chat hosted by Exane BNP Paribas as part of their inaugural ESG Conference.

Date

08 September 2021

About the event
The virtual discussion explored the importance of global health topics within ESG decision-making and centered on the findings of two of the Foundation's key reports: the Access to Medicine Index and Antimicrobial Resistance Benchmark.

The ESG Conference was hosted by Exane BNP Paribas’ equity research arm, the #1 rated provider of research to investors in Europe. One of the key themes of the ESG Conference was the challenges to public health and the increased attention this is gaining in the ESG investment world, particularly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Access to medicine and the role of investors
The fireside discussion between Exane BNPP's Co-Head of ESG Research and Jayasree covered a number of topics, including:

  • The Access to Medicine Foundation and value of our resources for investors

  • The performance of pharmaceutical companies within the Access to Medicine Index and Antimicrobial Resistance Benchmark

  • How COVID-19 and future pandemics are accounted for in the Access to Medicine Index

  • Incentives for research & development and the balance of drug pricing

  • The business case for increasing access to medicine and how investors can engage on this topic.
