Damiano de Felice to present Antimicrobial Resistance Benchmark at International Environmental AMR Forum

On April 5, Damiano de Felice, Director of Strategy of the Access to Medicine Foundation, will attend the International Environmental AMR Forum in Vancouver, Canada, to present the results of the Antimicrobial Resistance Benchmark. He will focus on the key findings regarding manufacturing and production of high-quality antibiotics as well as environmental risk-management strategies for minimising the impact of antibiotic discharge.

Date

05 April 2018

The International Environmental AMR Forum, organised by the United Kingdom Science and Innovation Network and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust, will bring together governmental officials, technical experts and key stakeholders to outline the current knowledge of how the environment is contaminated by resistant microorganisms and antimicrobials, the impacts of this contamination on human health and link these findings to policy actions. The aim is to identify gaps in knowledge needed to understand and address the risk to human health, the steps to mitigate it and the proposed pathways to fill these gaps.

Damiano will discuss the results of the Antimicrobial Resistance Benchmark, which sheds light on pharmaceutical company efforts to curb AMR. He will focus on the key findings regarding manufacturing and production of high-quality antibiotics as well as environmental risk-management strategies for minimising the impact of antibiotic discharge.
