Claudia Martínez to moderate panel discussion at World Health Organization Fair Pricing Forum

Claudia Martínez, Head of Research at The Access to Medicine Foundation, will serve as moderator of a panel discussion during the World Health Organization (WHO) Fair Pricing Forum on 7 February 2024. The session will focus on potential methods of enhancing access to essential biosimilar medicines.

Date

07 February 2024

DATE

FORMAT

Virtual

In her capacity as Head of Research at The Access to Medicine Foundation, Claudia Martínez will be moderating a panel discussion titled “The untapped potential of biosimilars: How to ensure affordable access” at this year’s WHO Fair Pricing Forum. Claudia will utilise her extensive expertise, as well as insights from the Foundation’s new Generic and Biosimilar Medicine Manufacturers Programme to guide the discussion.

About the panel

The world is now approaching 20 years since biosimilar medicines were first developed and introduced, and yet their promise in contributing to access and affordability remains largely unrealised throughout much of the globe. Connecting the dots between availability, affordability, and access has proven difficult considering increasingly constrained health budgets where biosimilars would still represent a significant cost. This panel will focus on potential methods of enhancing access to essential biosimilar medicines, with specific examples from countries raised to discuss challenges in selection and procurement to bridge regulatory approval and post-market access.
