Claudia Martínez joins webinar on access to essential medicines, diagnostics and medical devices for NCDs

Claudia Martínez, Director of Research at the Access to Medicine Foundation, has been invited to speak at a webinar, hosted in collaboration by the NCD Alliance, Geneva University (UNIGE), and the NCD Policy Lab. During her presentation, she will share key insights and data on NCDs drawn from the 2024 Access to Medicine Index.

Date

23 January 2025

Location

Online

Access to essential medicines, diagnostics, and medical devices for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is a critical challenge, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). To address these barriers, the NCD Alliance, UNIGE, and the NCD Policy Lab are hosting a webinar titled “Access to Essential Medicines, Diagnostics, and Medical Devices for NCDs: Priorities for the 4th UN High-Level Meeting (HLM) on NCDs”.

The webinar will launch a joint brief, summarising the key priorities discussed during the session, which will be presented at the 4th United Nations High-level Meeting on NCDs. The event also aims to unite civil society organisations across various NCD sectors, promote equitable access by engaging policymakers and technical organisations, and outline actionable steps for stakeholders to improve access to NCD medicines, diagnostics, and technologies.

A key focus of this webinar will be the 2024 Access to Medicine Index. Released by the Access to Medicine Foundation, it ranks and evaluates 20 of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies on their efforts to improve access to essential medicines in LMICs. Representing the Foundation, Director of Research, Claudia Martínez will present the findings of the 2024 Index, with a particular focus on NCD-related data.
