Camille Romero joins symposium at AIDS 2024, the 25th International AIDS Conference

Access to Medicine Research Programme Manager, Camille Romero, has been invited to participate in AIDS 2024, the 25th International AIDS Conference. In presenting the Foundation’s work, she will focus on the pharmaceutical industry’s contributions to HIV prevention accessibility.

Date

23 July 2024

Location

Munich, Germany

The International AIDS Conference is an annual event that convenes thousands of people living with, affected by and working on HIV to share knowledge, best practices and lessons learnt from the HIV response over the past 40 years.

As part of the AIDS 2024 Conference programme, Camille will join other international experts in a symposium titled, “Revolutionising HIV prevention: Breakthroughs and insights on long-acting technologies”. This session will delve into the latest advancements in HIV prevention, focusing on cutting-edge long-acting technologies and unique challenges and considerations in implementing long-acting prevention strategies for adolescents.

During the symposium, Camille will deliver a presentation focusing on “Galvanising new product access for low- and middle-income countries”. She will share an overview of the pharmaceutical industry's contributions to HIV prevention accessibility, including key findings from the 2022 Access to Medicine Index and the Foundation’s 2023 Company Profiles report on generic and biosimilar medicine manufacturers’ access efforts. By sharing success stories and best practices, Camille will highlight how other stakeholders can engage in efforts to expand access to HIV treatment, as well as how they can work to enable HIV prevention.

She will also engage in a Q&A as part of the symposium, during which she will discuss ongoing challenges and potential solutions for improving treatment access with the wide-ranging stakeholders in attendance.
