2019 World Conference on Access to Medical Products: Achieving the SDGs 2030

On Thursday 21 November, Margo Warrren, Government Engagement and Policy Manager at the Access to Medicine Foundation, will participate in a plenary session at the 2019 World Conference on Access to Medical Products in New Delhi, India.

Margo will take part in the panel discussion, ‘Access Strategies, Patent Pool Mechanisms and Licensing for Medical Products and Health Technologies including the Role of Pharmaceutical Sector’. 

During the discussion, panelists will explore access strategies including those fostered through patent pooling for public health, as well as innovative licensing mechanisms for access to medicines. Margo will share relevant findings from the Foundation’s 10-year analysis, Are pharmaceutical companies doing more than ten years ago to improve access to medicine? and the 2018 Access to Medicine Index which ranks 20 of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies based on their efforts to address access to medicine.

There will also be a keynote address from Richard Wilder, (see above) and Professor Brook K Baker, Northeastern University School of Law and Senior Policy Analyst, Health Global Access Project.

The conference is organised by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the World Health Organization, with the overarching objective of accelerating access to medical products in order to achieve the goal of universal health coverage, SDG 3.8.
