Are you the one who can lift the Access to Medicine Foundation’s events to the next level? In this newly created job, you will plan, coordinate and execute our high-level speaker events, workshops and panel discussions, convening leading voices from across multiple stakeholder groups. You will support the different teams in the Foundation in bringing our research insights to top influencers in global health.

The Access to Medicine Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Our mission is to stimulate and guide healthcare companies to do more for the two billion people worldwide who cannot access the medicines they need. To trigger radical change inside these companies, the Foundation uses a combination of data, research insights, rankings and report cards, while leveraging a network of influential stakeholders, including investors, policymakers in governments, and the public. For each sector and access issue, the Foundation builds networks of influence, to ensure that tailored approaches are used. Our events form a critical avenue for activating these networks.
The events that we organise are varied, including high-level panels in India or New York City, Investor Roadshows in London and Tokyo, virtual and in-person training sessions for companies, Amsterdam Sessions for sharing best practices from our research, policy briefings for governments at ministerial levels, and technical workshops.
For each event, the successful candidate will identify specialists and experts from the worlds of global health, the pharma industry and government policy in order to engage them with our platforms and forums. You are able to operate at the highest political and policy levels, as well as coordinating the logistics and tailored communications for each event.
What the role looks like
- Planning: you plan and run multiple events at once, while managing the calendar of events being run by the Foundation’s different teams;
- Project management: you carry out end-to-end project management, including securing timely decisions on budgets, concept, speakers etc.
- Execution and quality control: you can carry out all aspects of events coordination, and ensure excellent execution for the Foundation at all events.
- Concept: you can assess the appropriate level of an event and ensure the concept, agenda and speakers match the Foundation’s brand.
- Tool-making: you are able to create slide-decks and can work with our web CMS as well as create social media content to promote events, including by working with creative suppliers.
- Audience and speakers: using desk research and our contacts database you will secure participants, panellists and speakers and/or facilitate the team in sending invitations and follow-ups.
- International job: you will work with partners, media, event hosts, participants and speakers across all countries and time zones in which the Foundation is active
What we are looking for
- Essential: 2-3 years’ experience in event and/or stakeholder management in global health, pharma and/or policy contexts (i.e., experience of coordinating trade fairs, music festivals or similar will not qualify relevant).
- Essential: A relevant background in communications, marketing and/or in putting together agenda-setting conferences.
- Essential: Excellent, professional and appropriate communicator in written and spoken English, both with internal team members as well as with external speakers and participants: in-person, virtual and on the phone.
- Pragmatic person that knows how to turn a conceptual idea into an actual event with great outcomes.
- A well organised and efficient person, that also enjoys improvising when needed and can make the most of opportunities presented.
- Able to create the excellent communications tools needed to run an event: in digital communications (invitations, mail outs, social media) and as well in terms of content (e.g., for a meaningful concept note).
- Adept at using (virtual) event technology.
- Able to run a series of projects at the same time.
- A well-organised person who is efficient, proactive and flexible; someone who takes a hands-on approach to work and is ready to jump in as needed.
- The position will be based in Amsterdam and a valid work permit to work in the Netherlands is needed, EU applicants welcome.
