Communications Officer

About the Foundation
The Access to Medicine Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Amsterdam. Our mission is to stimulate and guide healthcare companies to do more for people living in low- and middle-income countries who cannot access the worldwide who cannot access the essential healthcare they need.
The core pillar of our work is researching how essential healthcare companies address the affordability and accessibility of their products in these countries. To translate our research into real-world change, we engage with leading organisations, including companies, NGOs and governments.
Our communications are seen and used by a wide network of experts and groups, including pharmaceutical companies and industry watchers, governments, international agencies (such as the United Nations and World Health Organization), pharma journalists, investors and global health professionals and academics.
Communications at the Foundation
You will be joining an inventive Communications Team, where all members take a hands-on approach. Our teamwork style is highly collaborative, with strong ownership of different streams and projects. We work closely with colleagues at all levels of the organisation, including the Chief Executive Officer and members of the strategy and research teams.
What does the role look like?
Campaign execution: you will support the Campaign Lead in the executing of communications campaigns, e.g., to publish and leverage our reports and publications through media campaigns, social media, etc.
Making and curating effective tools with a bold visual impact: you will plan and make communications toolkits for teams, campaigns and initiatives where appropriate, e.g., slides, images, logos, social messages.
House style and branding: you will support the organisation in adhering to the Foundation’s house style, including planning and producing templates and vetting finished documents.
Comms tool database: you will maintain and curate the Foundation’s database of PDFs, images (photo database), slide decks, logos, media lists, etc.
Website maintenance and digital analytics: you will support the communications team in updating the current website, tracking and reporting digital analytics.
These core streams provide a starting point for this role. There will also be plenty of opportunities for you to take ownership and get the ball rolling on new communications activities and projects generated by our engagement teams and outreach work.
What we are looking for
Essential: 2-3 years’ experience working in a comparable role, preferably for an organisation that is active in a similar field and that specialises in stakeholder communications (i.e., specific objectives and communication styles to be tailored per audience)
Essential: Experience of planning and producing communications tools that meet a set house style, including speaker slides and social tools (preferably Twitter and LinkedIn)
Essential: Excellent at managing ongoing processes and recurrent tasks, alongside one-off tasks and projects, often working in multiple project teams at the same time (matrix organisation)
Experience of: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Mailchimp (or similar), Wordpress (or similar), Google Analytics, TweetDeck (or similar).
Pro-active and results-driven, with a pragmatic, hands-on mentality
Agile and stress-resistant: able to work to multiple deadlines and flag potential roadblocks and/or bottlenecks before they become urgent.
Highly proficient in English and preferably in Dutch.
The position will be based in Amsterdam and a valid work permit to work in the Netherlands is needed, EU applicants welcome.
What we offer you
A dynamic, innovative, working environment with an international team based in our Amsterdam office. This position is not available for remote working in a country outside the Netherlands (there will be no compensation for relocation costs).
