Suvi Karuranga holds a Master of Public Health degree from Lund University, where she specialised in health literacy, one of the access-elements in health systems. Suvi has a clinical background as a public health nurse and brings the knowledge from her European and African field work to the research team. She is one of the co-founders of the Swedish Network for International Health and a co-developer of the Global Health Mentorships programme.
Previously, Suvi has been engaged in projects with international organizations across the health sector such as the WHO, the European Forum for Primary Care, the ECSA Health Community and Health Literacy Europe. During her career, Suvi has been part of various reproductive health and eHealth programs in Europe and Africa, specifically in Finland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Tanzania and Swaziland.
