Joelle Tanguy is Director, Strategic Partnerships Division at UN Women. She previously served as Under Secretary General at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent; as Managing Director of External Relations for the GAVI Alliance; and helped launch and develop the Global Alliance for TB Drug Development (TB Alliance).
A former IT industry professional, Joelle joined Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 1989, leading medical relief operations in East Africa, Central Asia and the Balkans. In 2001, she became MSF’s US Executive Director. Joelle has also served as Senior Vice President for Global Programs and Partnerships for the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. She has contributed to numerous publications on global health and human rights.
