Trade War with China threatens to make problems with generic medicine worse

Judy Stone reports for Forbes on the escalating trade war between China and the US and explores what impact it could have on drug shortages, since many active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are only produced in China. 

Access to Medicine Foundation Executive Director, Jayasree K. Iyer is quoted in the article, sharing her concerns about the implications for antibiotics supply:

“A trade war will further jeopardise the supply of antibiotics…It will cause delays and shortages in a health system that is already stressed with pressures on pricing, value of pharmaceuticals and severe shortages in basic essential medicines.”
